Information and Goals for Sections

Sections throughout the Central Region are being challenged to meet the following goals while putting together their One Day of Service promotional efforts. It is highly recommended that Sections use the Community Service Guide as well as this website as a basis for implementing their own program to ensure success:

  • Contact Lodges on a monthly basis to check up on their progress in planning, promoting, running, and reporting their One Day of Service Projects.
  • Contact the Region One Day of Service Coordinator concerning progress and issues of the One Day of Service Program every other month.
  • Follow up with Lodges to ensure the Lodge Project Reports are completed by October 1.
  • Send all Lodge Project Reports and the Section Closing Report to the Region One Day of Service Coordinator by November 1.
Getting Started
The One Day of Service Program is geared toward the lodges and sections of the Central Region. Without the support of the Sections, lodges cannot make the One Day of Service program a success. Each Section Chief is urged to appoint a section One Day of Service Coordinator, who will be charged with carrying out the Section’s duties for One Day of Service. The key to getting started is appointing a One Day of Service Coordinator and sending his contact information to the Central Region One Day of Service Coordinator.
The Section One Day of Service Coordinator
One of the greatest assets available to all of the lodges is the Section One Day of Service Coordinator. When appointing your Section’s Coordinator, be sure to find a committed and reliable individual. This person will be the main driving force behind promotion of the Central Region’s One Day of Service Program for your Section. He needs to keep in constant communication with the Lodge One Day of Service Coordinators and the Region One Day of Service Coordinator. By fulfilling his duties, the Section One Day of Service Coordinator will help take the One Day of Service program to new heights.
Promoting One Day of Service
There are a number of resources that each Section One Day of Service Coordinator can use while promoting the One Day of Service in each section. The resources found on the One Day of Service website are a great resource.
  • Website
  • One of the easiest ways to promote the One Day of Service is to ensure that each lodge can find and use this website to its full potential. The resources available on this website will help promote the One Day of Service within each lodge, and also offer lodges deeper insight into the One Day of Service program.
  • Trifold
  • These ‘trifold” displays come ready for distribution at section ad lodge events. These are a great way to hand someone a piece of paper that will detail what goes on with the Central Region’s One Day of Service program, and how to implement it in their lodge.
  • Program Overview
  • This is a one-page overview on what the One Day of Service is about and the goals of the program. This document is a one-stop resource to show lodges the benefits and goals of the One Day of Service Program.
  • Word of Mouth
  • The best way to promote any program or event is to tell people about it. Make an extra effort to maintain communication with your local lodge officers, so that each Lodge’s One Day of Service Project will run smoothly. By attending lodges functions and explaining the Central Region’s One Day of Service, you will be able to get the members of lodges fired up about their One Day of Service projects.
  • Community Service Guide
  • This national publication offers ideas in the mobilize section in promoting the project to members of your lodge and council as well as the communities in which you serve.
  • Other Resources
  • Be sure to check the One Day of Service Website as more information and resources become available for your lodges to use in promotion.
Your Section’s Closing Report
As always, the job isn’t finished until the paperwork is done. Section One Day of Service Coordinators have the job of making sure all of the paperwork gets to the Region One Day of Service Coordinator on time. Ensure that you are using the goals for your Section to keep on task with your One Day of Service paperwork. On November 1, ALL lodge project reports and the section closing report be sent to the Region One Day of Service Coordinator.
